A radiographer based in Gloucestershire has received an extremely prestigious award in recognition for her many contributions to the profession of radiography.

Kathlyn Slack was presented with the Fellowship of the College of Radiographers award at a recent event that was held in King's Palace, London. The award comes, in part, because of her excellent work with the Gloucestershire-based charity Cobalt, which is an independent charity created in 1964 with the aim of providing aid to people who are affected by cancer, dementia and a number of other life-threatening or limiting conditions.

The charity is recognised as one of the best in the country for providing diagnostic imaging to patients, with its webpage claiming that more than 24,000 patients are scanned each year at its Cobalt Imaging Centre, alongside the patients who are also scanned with their mobile MRI machines that find their way in the likes of Gloucestershire, Herefordshire and others.

Karen Smith, outgoing President of the Society and College of Radiographers (SCoR), awarded the prestigious Fellowship to Kathlyn Slack following a short presentation by CEO of the Society, Richard Evans.

It is most certainly the sort of recognition that all radiographers should be striving to achieve, which means working as hard as possible to stand out in whatever role you currently undertake. Of course, if you are currently searching for a radiography job in the UK, we can offer you plenty of help and guidance along the way, including a number of job listings that are hosted right here on our site.

Who knows? With a little bit of elbow grease and some dedication to the sort of charity work that Kathlyn Slack undertakes, you too may one day be able to receive such a prestigious honour from one of the foremost organisations in the radiography profession.
