Job Details

Experienced Sonographer required to work as part of a Community Ultrasound Team, performing booked lists of mixed-case referrals in GP surgeries with in the South-West Essex Region.

Working with the support of an Ultrasound Helper, you will perform Abdominal, Gynae and Renal scans using a Mindray M7 Portable ultrasound scanner. Ability to scan Small Parts, limited Vascular and/or MSK is desirable but not essential.

All scans are reported by the Sonographer on site, and reports posted to referring GP the following day. Urgent reports are telephoned direct to the referring GP by the Sonographer.

The position would suit someone who understands the responsibility of working in a solo environment, with out other Sonographers present to discuss cases with; however, where clinical uncertainty exists, there is always an option to refer for rescan. 

You must be happy working in a small team, and taking responsibility for the work of the team, giving direction and support where needed. 

Access to your own vehicle is essential as some of the clinics are difficult to reach by public transport. 

Part time or full time hours available as best suited to the applicant, with possible hours through Monday - Friday 9am - 5:30pm.    If full time hours are required, some time may be spent sub-contracted as locum staff to Ultrasound departments of local Acute Trusts, which will help you retain your clinical abilities in cases less likely to be seen in a community setting.

Salary is dependent on experience and capabilities.
